Flotilla

(Male and Female Redheads)

I had so much fun painting the afore-pictured solo Redhead that I thought I might enjoy trying to capture an entire flotilla. Good idea, but it took awhile.

Besides the number of birds, the other first-time challenge in this painting was the water. One of the pictures I found while studying Redheads showed them clearly bouncing around on choppy water.

I did my best to render the water’s motion and a splash or two. Hope you like it. I did and put it on this year’s cover.
